For many years Brian & Maria Yule have selflessly provided stability for an extended family ravaged by the pain of addiction. Maria's five siblings have all struggled with alcohol and drug abuse. Time and time again Brian and Maria have supported family members and helped them get back on their feet. They have offered food, accommodations and other resources whenever crisis in the family occured, expecting nothing in return. Family members including children have arrived unannounced on the Yule's doorstep and stayed for lengthy durations. The Yules have extended themselves far beyond their financial means maintaining the faith that their actions would influence positive change. While one of Maria's siblings has passed away, three have turned their lives around and now enjoy the peace that sobriety brings. Brian and Maria's tireless efforts and unwavering belief were crucial in bringing these changes about. Sadly one sister still remains in the grip of addiction.

Through all the turmoil, Brian and Maria have raised two outstanding daughters; Brittany is 23 and trained as a medical office assistant. Amanda who is 21 has completed her early childhood education program and is employed as a pre-school teacher. Son Daniel is 8 and is an active and engaging boy.

Now this family has taken on yet another challenge . They are caring for their 3 year old neice Brianna and intend to adopt her as her mother is unable to care for her. Maria is further challenged by arthritis and Crohn's disease, but does her best looking after the younger children. Brian's employment is on a contract basis and there is much financial uncertainty as a result.

The Yules' have lived in this home and neighborhood for over 20 years and the house is in desperate and immediate need of repair. Many things require attention....

  • the roof is leaking in several locations and is covered by tarps to temporarily keep the rain out.
  • there is extensive water damage in ceilings and walls and mold is now a serious concern.
  • all of the interior finishings are original to the home and are in much need of repair or updating.
  • flooring is worn and needs to be replaced throughout the home.
  • drywall is in need of repair and painting.

The love this family shares with each other and their willingness to help others in need makes them a worthy candidate for this years Home Team project. We invite you to participate with us to help this deserving family. <
