Chantal & Taylor Beaudoin

The Home Team, is excited to announce our sixth home repair project. Chantal Beaudoin of Port Moody wants the same things that all parents want for their families. She wishes to provide a safe, comfortable and secure home for her 10 year old son Taylor and herself. Unfortunately this has been a very demanding prospect since 2004 when a train accident claimed one of Chantal's legs. For eighteen months Chantal was a patient at G.F. Strong where she underwent rehabilitation and treatment for her injuries which also included head trauma. Chantal is a single parent living on a disability pension with some child support. Despite Chantal's physical challenges she possesses an unwavering spirit and infectious enthusiasm. She has done everything in her power to transform her modest bungalow into the best environment possible. Her nearly sixty year old home is dwarfed by very large modern homes on either side but is situated on an excellent piece of property. Chantal loves to be outside working in her garden. With some help but mainly due to utter determination on her part Chantal has been gradually landscaping the back yard. For Chantal and Taylor their home is in an ideal location. It is close to the water, shopping and to Taylor*s elementary school. There is also a middle and secondary school in the immediate area. While Chantal has made the house itself warm and inviting there are many limitations. The home is heated by a 55 year old oil furnace. Fuel is expensive and the home is poorly insulated. There are some plumbing & electrical issues and the house is quite small and crowded. Gutters are in poor shape and windows are small and single pane. Wheelchair access is a problem particularly from the house to the driveway and garage. Many things can be done to make life a bit easier for Chantal & Taylor, and help is needed to do just that.
